Hello Inland Northwest Members,
Here is your April SCBWI update!
Our April 13thEvents
As you may know, we have 2 terrific events coming up this Saturday. We have our social media event at the Downtown Spokane Library, and a motivating workshop for pursuing your creative endeavors at the 1912 Center in Moscow. If you haven’t registered, here are the links. Spokane Moscow We hope you’ll join us!
If you’re unable to attend an event in person, you can still get amazing tips and advice from the Build Your Personal Brand webinar. A recording of this workshop will be sent to you if you register before Saturday. It offers clear strategies for connecting with readers, book buyers, and the kidlit community on Instagram. Here are a couple of testimonials from people that have worked with our presenter, Oanh Jordan.
“Through her expert consulting services, Oanh helped me develop marketing strategies for working toward my goals. She was beyond genius in her brainstorming powers and guided me as I built my brand.”
-Emily Arrow, Children’s Lit Musician, Storytime Singalong Vol 1 & 2, Wintertime Singalong
“Oanh taught me how to articulate the intention behind my picture book work. I didn’t realize defining my personal brand was so empowering.”
-Zoey Abbott, Illustrator of Twindergarten and Finn’s Feather
September 20 & 21 Conference:
Workshop descriptions are coming in from our faculty members, and I am getting excited! All faculty bios and workshop descriptions will be posted on the website by May 10. Early Bird registration will open on June 15th.
AGENTS! We have 3 agents coming to the fall conference. They represent the full gamut of children’s literature. Each agent will conduct 8 one-on-one consultations. They’ll review Picture Books, Portfolios, Middle Grade, Graphic Novels, YA, fiction and non-fiction work. There will also be a limited number of Query Consultations. In addition to your portfolio, dummy, or manuscript pages, you can include a query letter. These Query Consultations will offer advice on strengthening your query submission.
If you haven’t had a chance to read last month’s newsletter, I hope you’ll check it out here. (Reminder: you need to be signed into your SCBWI account to view the newsletter.)
Thanks for reading! I’ll be in touch.
